Current Events and Vocab

Through the reading of this article I had the perspective that the children are offten having many mental health issues and many of them began by having mental disorders and more diseases. It seems like these health issues were there to usurp the childerens health. Many parrents were suggesting and warning other parents to be scrupulous about their children health. Some f the states don't seem to have the capacity enough to take action to the children's illness. One of the best doctors that was in the situation was Dr. Koplewicz there were many kids that have had an atrophy since their illness waqs pretty advance. I think theres a pinnacle issue because many people were getting worried but their looking for surcumstances and theirs many things gettibg solved.

The Waiting Room (Play)

The waiting room was a play with a lot of knowledge, all youth and even adults can enjoy this piece of literature. This play shows many different messages especially to women and any person that are becoming based. This is because the media surrounds us with these concepts of women. This causes women to go through all this pain just for beauty which is only outside and many times for vanity which is not worth it. The play was based on three women that each did different things to impress men or their husbands. Now days many women changed themselves just to impress men and feel good about themselves and most men are attracted to the outside beauty and they begin to care less about inner beauty. They also do not notice the negative effects the beauty treatments have on a woman’s health.
The author Lisa Loomer, makes really good commentaries in this play. She brings out all the truth of today’s society and she realizes what we live in. Woman lets their health minor even though they have the knowledge and they know what could or might happen to them. In the play one of the characters was in the caused of having cancer because she put breast implants but, she was so happy with being able to have what she had.The author its showing how they had so many focused into them and sometimes a lot a vanity is what causes this. The only woman in the play that had many realized about this was the nurse Brenda she knew how all this woman was going through. Because this woman’s in the waiting room weren't considering their health and gave more interest to their beauty. Like the woman Victoria had a corset that was very tight that caused her organs to move around and end up with hysteria. Also the woman Forgiveness from Heaven had to have small feet, for her to be consider beauty, her feet bound which was very unhealthy for her because it caused her pain. Then the doctors gave the least care about it because it was the woman’s choice. The nurse was strong enough and faces the reality with the doctor how the industry of cancer is growing more and they don’t do something about it and Brenda realizes this.

The three main women characters during in the play were Victoria, Forgiveness from Heaven, and Wanda. They were all in the waiting room for the reason of doing something for their outside beauty they were trying to make themselves more beautiful. Victoria has the problem of having a tight corset, Forgiveness was loosing her toes because she had her feet bound, and Wanda had breast implants done and later on finds out that she has breast cancer and then had many surgeries done. They all go through problems and come out with different results. Victoria is very much controlled and was a Housewife
her husbands thoughts on her sickness because he was a doctor too. She had not much freedom and was a rebel. Her husband gave interest to her issue and told her it would only make her hysteria worse. In my perspective Victoria gave a lo of less care and more care in getting more beauty. She ends up getting her ovaries removed and in the end abides by her husbands rules. Any way the next woman Forgiveness loves her husband even though he is dominant and she seems to be afraid of him and be less than him and gives a lot of respect and her husband has five other wives. She only has her feet bound because her husband gets pleasure from the smell and her feet have to be small for husband could consider them beauty. For her husband her pain isn't worth it because and when she not with him is because she has to give him opportunity with his other five women. Wanda is a single woman within the play she is a strong woman who is all about her outside appearance and beauty. She is all for impressing the men especially with her breast implants she got. Until one day she is diagnosed with breast cancer. That’s when she realizes the good things in life other than impressions and her outside beauty and starts to become what she really is and what really beauty is all about.

The other characters in the play were Ken and Larry and they were pretty unique in their own way in the play. They're both people in the cancer treatment business because Larry had a method of treating cancer, and Ken works for the FDA. The commentary that the author was trying to make was how the portraying was really goes in the business. Ken was trying to show that even though there are more effective treatments out there people are too greedy to let them be passed because they want their own to pass. Larry wanted his method to be tried out, however there is another treatment that is probably more effective but he is being greedy. He is one of the people that decide whose treatments get.

The ending was funny and enjoyable and we learn a lot after this. Each one of us had a different perspective on this play, and what we taught about each character. I like how all women on the play realized the real beauty towards the ending and what real beauty is. I hope there’s a continuation on the play because we don’t know what happens.

Fairy Tales & Gender Roles

I agree with this article in so many ways because I learn how many fairy tale stories always end with this happy ending, and most of the time the main characters are always to be pretty and handsome. Many children are to learn that beauty is your outsidde by what the fairy tales message is giving. They are showing that this beautiful girls finds the guy of her dreams and she is really pretty and sweet. Being femminie is always known in fairytales as wearing the prettyest dresses and living in a castle but, from now on media is been trying to make some changes around in all this products that been advertised. Many parrents read this to their children with ot the knowldge of knowing our going over that this farytales just show the outside beauty most of the time. That involves my parrents that read all these stories and I used to love them and being called a princes was known as being cute and pretty and for many other girls too. Years later on where changed and a good point I agrree with in the article was the recent fairy tale of Shrek becasue they chanded the normall version of a "once upon time" with a charming prince and instead of the princess being beautiful she is but she actually an orge. Shrek is a good example of showing the normal beuty and you could be loved by how your personally is and not carring about your outside. Ithink shrek show a lot and gave a good example to the children.

Articles

1. Respond to both articles discussing your thoughts. Be detailed and use at least 1 direct quote from the article in your response.

This article was about the people’s different perspectives of beauty. How people in different places do looking more beautiful in the outside. The most interesting quote I read in this article was "Perceptions of basic facial attractiveness, for their part, do not appear to have changed dramatically down the centuries, unlike the ideal body mass” I thought that this was interesting because it is very true. The American woman’s care mostly about the weight of their body. meaning being thin and having a nice shape. Others get over obsess with food or love the outside beauty. We just need to provoke that doesn’t get to a big extreme because both are not a good perspective of beauty.

2. Evaluate your class' seminar discussions. Be specific in discussing what you learned, what interesting points were made, what you think about those ideas proposed during seminar?

We had all these different points of view during the discussion of our seminar, I agree with all of these points. We discussed about the beauty, health, and inner beauty and how can we make media changed in the way that media is so advanced. One of the big points we were to have in our seminar that was brought up is how media is all over the TV commercials, and not just there but out in the streets outside and around you. We are so used to it that we don’t seem to noticed and that’s what we cover going back to our article because media is the one that brings all these things out and how is trying to globalize. A good point that we brought up was how to stop media from doing this but, not being able to stop media right away because it will be impossible.
In the second article we brought many good points, that sometimes I agreed and sometimes I did not but article two was more about how many Americans carrying about their outside beauty and how normal it is now. Mostly woman are the ones that began getting over abused with the issue of combining health with beauty. My perspective from this point was that woman can carry on their size body and want to be thin enough and leave health to the side which is not good because health is really important.

Bleaching Skin in Malli (Quiz)

I was very impact to this procedure of reading in the article. I can’t believe how woman try’s to bleach there own skin color while being one of the poorest country is unavailable. I think is not good when these entire woman’s are risking their lives on doing this. I wonder how can they stand and hold the pain and feel Ebullient while their burning themselves and going threw all the pain. Many women that are able to buy these products they might have been given Dowry since they are poor and can’t afford it. Not only poor woman’s are bleaching their skin is all different types of woman’s because calls their attention. All these different products seem with mesmeric because the women’s there can’t stop buying them. The Woman might have been felling salacious every day but, I wonder those entire woman’s had their own beauty and changing their skin color might of make them different and their actually not natural anymore. I consider this bleaching very dangerous because woman’s had to take well care of there skin be away from the sun for there skin not to turn pallid and since they were bleach have to go threw all these process that take their natural skin color and beauty.

Campaign Real Beauty

1. What were your gut reactions to this commercial?

Wow! I was shock how all this was true and actual facts that woman do now days for their personal beauty. Well also the natural beauty is been lost and many women do it for pure Vanity. This was also based in what we see all the time in the commercials and is actually true. This has all been on for more than a while and how is getting bigger each time. One of My reactions was like what? I mean like they take all this process to have themselves as what they called beauty? Many years ago it wasn’t like is now days and woman didn’t have the capacity to have what we have now and style was different and woman had their natural beauty. Woman’s now days don’t seem to noticed that but, once I saw this video it reacted me a lot this is what we now do and many of us woman don’t have our own beauty.

2. What do you think about the central message of the commercial?

Be specific and give examples to support your ideas.I think the central message try to send all this for everyone but especially for young girls or any females I should say. There trying to show in what circumstances where living in where mostly all woman are doing at least one thing about this video to have more beauty. I just can’t believe how media has advanced so much and is creating this each day. It’s also advertise not only in TV but, out in the streets there’s big sights and all these different places where we all seen this before. I think its main message is giving the parents an example to show there kids especially there daughters because girls get attractive to the beauty industry

Reflecting On Seminar 1.

The topic in our seminar that I was interested on was the consequences of ignorance. From my point of view I don’t really have an exact definition for ignorance. We all have different perspectives about the different examples of ignorance. I really like the part of having the discussion about when stealing is right or wrong. Is stealing okay with different circumstances? For example starvation?
